Half Hour Heroes

Half Hour Heroes is a fast, collaborative tabletop role-playing game designed for quick, high-energy sessions, perfect for casual game nights, spontaneous adventures, or filling the gap between longer campaigns. Built with simplicity and fun at its core, it strips away the complexity of traditional TTRPGs while keeping the creativity, chaos, and teamwork intact.

Players take on quirky characters with unique roles, defining attributes, and useful items, all created in just a few minutes. Adventures can unfold in a wide range of settings, from the Wild West and sci-fi to fantasy and beyond. With an easy-to-learn dice pool system, escalating obstacles, and a rewarding balance of risk and momentum, every decision matters and every roll can turn the story in unexpected ways.

Each session plays out in around 30 minutes and supports 2 to 7 players, plus one Game Master (GM) to guide the story. All you need are a few six-sided dice, something to write with, and a willingness to jump into the unknown. Printable cards for quick character creation and adventure selection are included to get you started right away.

Half Hour Heroes is released under the Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 4.0 License. You are free to share and adapt the material for non-commercial purposes, as long as you credit the original creators and distribute any contributions under the same license.

This edition is a reimagined and streamlined version of Epic Sprint. While the original embraced a playful project management theme, it became clear that not every group and lead connected with that framing. Half Hour Heroes offers a clean, accessible experience focused purely on fast, flexible storytelling and making it easy for any group to jump into half an hour of RPG fun with minimal effort.
